English 4, post 3- Carrer Related

 During the biochemistry course we study molecular genetics. Thanks to molecular genetics we can perform analysis of the DNA components and we know the order of the nucleotide sequence, which would be the instructions to form a human being.

The human being is made up of a large number of cells, and each of these cells has the same information according to the functions it performs. Therefore, each of these cells reads its information and acts. Knowing the composition of DNA is very useful in various issues present in our daily life.

Thanks to the knowledge of the genetic material that is transferred from parents to children with small modifications during the different stages of generations, we can know the relationship between them, between species and thus know how we are evolving.

In medicine, advances in genetics have provided knowledge that today allows us to better understand many hereditary diseases, as well as to identify bacteria that have a negative impact on the correct development of our state of health. It is also applied in other fields such as personalized medicine, which would use our DNA to determine the most appropriate nutritional or pharmacological treatment for each individual.

A meal or food I really like

I don't really have a favorite kind of food, it's very hard to choose one when I like almost all of them; I really like pasta, with tomato sauce, cream and mushrooms or just with cheese, there are so many different ways to eat pasta that I love, I also really like pizza, mashed potatoes and rice. I am a vegetarian so, I eat a lot of vegetables and legumes, my favorites are broccoli, cabbage and black beans, my mom cooks very well so everything she makes is delicious and that's why I like so many different kinds of food. Now we are in tangerine season, I love tangerines, they are my favorite fruit along with raspberries. I also love chocolate it's something I couldn't live without. As I am a vegetarian I care a lot about having a balanced diet so I eat fruits and vegetables every day, plus I eat legumes quite often. Since I stopped eating meat I feel more energetic and much healthier.

A photo and its story

This photo is very important for me, it was the first concert I went to, so it was a very special moment, Green Day was my favorite band at that time, and when they gave me the tickets for the concert I was very happy and excited, that day has been one of the happiest of my life, I had a great time and I will always remember that moment. This photo is from 2017, the concert was on a Saturday and since it was in Santiago I had to travel there on Friday, I still remember that a few days later I had a presentation at school and my friends told me not to shout too much at the concert to take care of my voice. I went to the concert with my godmother, she has been in all the important moments of my life, so that day was very special. I had a great time that day it was a lot of fun and I would like to go to a concert again. I was going to go to the Billie Eilish concert in 2020, it was going to be the week of my birthday, but because of the pandemic it was cancelled, I hope that soon this w

Who I am?

  Hi!! my name is Antonia and I am 18 years old, I live near Chillán, but I was born and I spent my childhood in Santiago. Now I´m in the second year of biochemistry at university. I have been a vegetarian for two years, but my goal is to become a vegan, I love animals specially my dog named Estrella, I live with her and my mom, it is a small family but with a lot of love. My tastes in music are very diverse, but mainly I listen to pop music. I really like drawing and painting, it´s one of my hobbies that I dedicate the most time to, I also like watching Netflix and Disney, my favorite series is Friends and my favorite movie is The lion king.
